If you are seeking for another new eatery in Jakarta, here’s another one that I recently visited. Lalla restaurant is located just outside the lobby of The Four Season Hotel. Nested strategically and easy to find. I went there on a Sunday lunch, and the place was almost empty. It’s quite surprising knowing that it’s only been a few months since its opening.
What I find interesting about this place is, at first glance, it looks like a garden terrace, but the more fascinating thing was the trinkets on the wall. The colorful decoration consisted of many kinds of weird things from socks to wedding cake toppers. Really was a conversation starter.
I hope the food was nearly as interesting though the choice of menu was limited.
Lalla Nachos (IDR 75.000): Crispy corn chips with Cheddar sauce, Chipotle chicken, and black beans. The nachos was pretty good, especially the sauce.
Lalla Wagyu Burger (IDR 160.000): The burger patty was succulent, the guacamole and Chipotle BBQ sauce added the Mexican flair to it.
Spaghetti Aglio Olio (IDR 85.000): The spaghetti was a little over cooked, but it has strong flavor.
Nasi Campur Lalla (IDR 100.000): Balinese rice with Sate Lilit (Chicken satay) , Ikan Asin (Anchovies), Beef Rendang, Urap (Javanese salad with shredded coconut), Kroket Ayam (Chicken Croquette) and Kerupuk (Indonesian shrimp crackers). Overall the dish was average, the side dishes was nicely prepared and tasty too.
Jamaican Roast Chicken (IDR 185.000/half): Roast chicken with jerk butter and cauliflower textures. The chicken was a little dry but the marinated well.
Other than the weirdly decorated place, Lalla’s food didn’t do so much to fascinate me more. The food was so-so but it doesn’t mean that I won’t be back for a second try.
